DHYG 2268 - Civic Engagement for the Dental Hygienist
Credits: 3
Provides a continuation of Community Oral Health through the lens of civic engagement as it relates to public health. Principles of public health will be emphasized as it relates to oral health or overall health using a community-based process for health promotion and disease prevention both on campus and within the community. Students will assess historical knowledge of the evolution of the American health care systems as it relates to society and access to care. Students will plan, implement, and evaluate a civic engagement project as it relates to public health while applying research methodology.
Prerequisite: C or higher in DHYG 2259 - Dental Hygiene III Theory , DHYG 2260C - Dental Hygiene III Clinic , and DHYG 2267 - Community Oral Health .
