There is a growing need for trained employees in commerce, health care, hospitality, government, international business, nonprofit organizations, paralegal, and more. Businesses rely on these employees’ knowledge of critical business elements and principles to be successful.
At CT State Community College, students learn with real-world application and experience in current business practices. Our programs equip students with the skills they need to learn the value of information and technology in a variety of business environments. From information management to electronic health records, our programs cover a variety of environments where students can apply highly portable tools and approaches to solving complex problems.
For those interested in hospitality, our graduates have gone on to own bakeries; serve as chefs and managers in both formal and informal restaurants; work in foodservice settings in health care, business, and industry; work in hotels of all sizes; and hold management positions in many areas of the hospitality field.

To support an increasing number of health-related careers, CT State Community College offers many academic options for prospective students. Health career professionals help evaluate, treat, and prevent illnesses by collaborating in a variety of health fields, and individuals with many different skill levels can be successful in these areas. While some professions involve working directly with patients, others work behind the scenes, playing important roles in the health care field.
Students who enjoy helping others, hands-on or detailed work, problem solving, or have an interest in a medical-related field, can find an affordable and flexible career solution by earning an associate degree or certificate in one of many allied health fields. Allied health consists of a group of health professionals who work towards the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. These professionals also promote disease prevention and wellness, and work to support various health care systems.
For those students interested in a career in nursing, the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program (CT-CCNP) is an innovative associate degree program of study offered at six CT State campuses. The program serves a diverse population of students, offers excellent clinical sites, and has a thirty plus year record of proven success.
For those students who are interested in other health careers such as laboratory medicine, occupational and physical therapy, respiratory care and more, the CT State Community College offers degrees as certificates, and Associate degree programs which, in many cases, can be built upon and lead to a higher degree at our other four-year institutions.

The School of Science and Mathematics at CT State Community College offer engaging learning opportunities in science and mathematics for students with a diverse range of academic and career interests. These learning opportunities emphasize the acquisition of mathematical and scientific knowledge as well as the development of quantitative and scientific reasoning skills.
By engaging in the study of science and mathematics, students experience how these academic areas are integral and applicable to their lives. Students learn how to apply science to solve problems through lab experiences, research, and course work and to think collaboratively and critically. Faculty in both science and mathematics prepare students for future success in technical and non-technical career pathways, developing written, oral, and graphical communication skills.
