MUS 1002 - Music History - Classical-Contemporary


Credits: 3

This course is a survey of western music from Classical through Modern periods, with a review to the concept of sound and the elements of music (i.e. rhythm, melody, harmony, texture and form). Emphasis is given to major developments in music along with the cultural and sociological changes, which gave rise to new vocal and instrumental genres. Students will be required to write two concert reports after attending two live performances featuring works from the periods covered in the class.

Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG 1010
