ARAB 1011 Elementary Arabic I (4 Credits)
An introduction to the Arabic language and Arabic-speaking cultures with emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in order to prepare students for successful entry into the target language. This is a beginning course for students who have had very limited or no prior study of this language. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.

Prerequisites: Students with previous language experience must complete a Language and Culture placement test or permission of the Instructor.

ARAB 1012 Elementary Arabic II (4 Credits)
A continuation of Elementary Arabic I, this course builds upon previous introduction to the Arabic language and Arabic-speaking cultures with a continued emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. This is the second part to the beginning sequence for students who have had some prior study of this language either in high school, Elementary Arabic I or life experience. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.
Prerequisites: Students must have earned a grade of C- or higher in ARAB 1011, complete a Language and Culture placement test , or obtain permission of the Instructor.

ARAB 2011 Intermediate Arabic I (4 Credits)
This course is for students who have already attained a working knowledge of the language. Students continue to develop and strengthen speaking and listening comprehension and reading and writing skills, as well as learn more about Arabic-speaking cultures. Students are introduced to cultural and literary materials that will develop an appreciation of the arts, history, culture, and the literature of Arabic-speaking peoples and create an awareness of cultural, social, and linguistic differences and similarities. Instruction focuses on oral and written communication. This is four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.
Prerequisites: C- or higher in ARAB 1012 or Languages and Cultures Assessment.

ARAB 2012 Intermediate Arabic II (4 Credits)
This course is for students who have already attained a working knowledge of the language by either completing 4 years of high school Arabic, Intermediate Arabic I, or the equivalent. Students continue to develop and strengthen speaking, listening comprehension, reading and writing skills, as well as learn more about Arabic-speaking cultures. Students are introduced to cultural and literary materials that will develop an appreciation of the arts, history, culture, and the literature of Arabic-speaking peoples and create an awareness of cultural, social, and linguistic differences and similarities. Instruction focuses on oral and written communication. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language component.
