BFIN 1100 Personal Finance (3 Credits)
This course is an introduction to personal financial planning. It covers the foundations of personal financial planning, understanding the financial planning process, and measurement of financial standing. To learn how to build a secure financial future, the course will explore methods of managing personal assets, insurance needs, credit, investments and retirement planning. This course is useful to all students with an interest in managing their own finances.

BFIN 1110 Financial Literacy (3 Credits)
In this course, students will learn the essential decision-making skills they must apply and use to become wise and knowledgeable consumers, savers, investors, users of credit, managers of their money, citizens, and members of a global workforce and society. This course will use a hands-on instructional approach involving techniques such as problem solving, reasoning, simulation, and direct application of the included concepts to the world in which students live. The course is designed to incorporate concepts and skills from mathematics, language arts, social science, applied technology, and character education.

An overview of the banking industry. Topics include the language and documents of banking, check processing, teller functions, deposit functions and the role of the bank in the community.

BFIN 2100 Principles of Finance (3 Credits)
Principles of Finance serves as an introduction to financial management. Financial management is concerned with value and, when applied to firms, studies financial decision making and its impact on the value of the firm. It is an examination of how a business and investors plans their needs for funds, raise the necessary funds, and invests them to attain its goals. This course covers money and capital markets, financial analysis, working capital management, long term financing, the time value of money, risk, leverage, ratio analysis, portfolio theory, and cost of capital.
Prerequisite or corequisite: MATH 1200 may be taken concurrently

BFIN 2110 Money and Banking (3 Credits)
A study of the key concepts, theories and interrelationships that link money and banking to the U.S. economy. The topics covered will include principles of money and credit, basic banking regulations, determination of interest rates and foreign exchange rates, monetary policy and the role and tools of the Federal Reserve System. The structure and characteristics of financial markets are also covered.

BFIN 2113 Sports Finance (3 Credits)
This course presents the financial issues that impact the sports and athletic industries. Through the application of principles and practices of financial management, students will develop the financial skills necessary to analyze the implications of various operating procedures, including obtaining revenue, spending, capital projects, and supply and demand. Other topics include budget development and economic impact within the sport industry.
BFIN 2300 Investment Principles (3 Credits)
A study of the fundamental principles and concepts of analysis and an evaluation of a variety of financial investments with emphasis on common stocks and bonds. The working of capital markets and the determination of interest rates will also be covered.
Prerequisites: BFIN 2100 with a grade of "C" or higher or permission of instructor

BFIN 2350 International Finance (3 Credits)
The international dimensions of finance; Topics include the international monetary system, foreign exchange markets, management of foreign exchange exposure and political risk, the financing of international trade, international financial markets, and capital budgeting techniques. This course builds upon the valuation methods developed in the prerequisite course in Finance.
