German (GERM)
GERM 1011 Elementary German I (4 Credits)
An introduction to the German language and German-speaking cultures with emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in order to prepare students for successful entry into the target language. This is a beginning course for students who have had very limited or no prior study of this language. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.

Prerequisites: Students with previous language experience must complete a Language and Culture placement test or permission of the instructor.

GERM 1012 Elementary German II (4 Credits)
A continuation of Elementary German I, this course builds upon previous introduction to the German language and German-speaking cultures with a continued emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is the second part to the beginning sequence for students who have had some prior study of this language either in high school, Elementary German I or life experience. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.
Prerequisites: Students must have earned a grade of C- or higher in GERM 1011, or complete a Language and Culture placement test , or permission of the instructor.

GERM 2011 Intermediate German I (4 Credits)
This course is for students who have already attained a working knowledge of the language. Students continue to develop and strengthen speaking and listening comprehension and reading and writing skills, as well as learn more about German-speaking cultures. Students are introduced to cultural and literary materials that will develop an appreciation of the arts, history, culture, and the literature of German-speaking peoples and create an awareness of cultural, social, and linguistic differences and similarities. Instruction focuses on oral and written communication. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.
Prerequisites: A grade of C- or higher in GERM 1012, or complete a Language and Culture placement test , or permission of the instructor.

GERM 2012 Intermediate German II (4 Credits)
