Latin (LATN)

LATN 1011  Elementary Latin I  (4 Credits)  
An introduction to the Latin language and Classical Roman history and culture with emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in order to prepare students for successful entry into the target language. This is a beginning course for students who have had very limited or no prior study of this language. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component. Prerequisites: Students with previous language experience must complete a Language and Culture placement test or permission of the instructor.

LATN 1012  Elementary Latin II  (4 Credits)  
A continuation of Elementary Latin I, this course builds upon previous introduction to the Latin language and Classical Romanculture and history with a continued emphasis on the development of the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is the second part to the beginning sequence for students who have had some prior study of this language either in high school or Elementary Latin I. This is a four-credit course with an embedded language lab component.
Prerequisites: Students must have earned a grade of C- or higher in LATN 1011, or complete a Language and Culture placement test , or obtain permission of the instructor.
