PCA’s work in a home care environment assisting individuals with daily activities such as using the bathroom, preparing and eating meals, executing good hygiene and grooming habits, taking medication, bathing and completing housework or other chores. Upon completion of this program, you’ll earn the following industry recognized credentials/certificates: Personal Care Assistant Certificate, Dementia Care Certificate, American Heart Association (AHA) First Aid, CPR AED, Essential Job Skills Certificate, and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certification.

Get your foot in the door of career in medical patient care with a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certificate from CT State! This program is intended for adults who are interested in entering the healthcare field. It will prepare you for employment in both public and private agencies. You’ll learn how to care for people who need help in caring for themselves through a combination of classroom lecture, lab and clinical training at a local skilled nursing facility. Upon completion of the course, you’ll be able to perform basic nursing skills and recognize areas of safety for both patients and yourself. This course prepares you to take the State of Connecticut Competency Exam and you’ll become eligible for the Connecticut State Nurse Aide Registry.
