Interested in starting or advancing your career in healthcare? A Phlebotomy Technician certificate from CT State will give you the specialized knowledge and skills necessary to draw blood safely and confidently from both adults and children. It can be a great additional certification for CNAs and Patient Care Technicians or it can be used as a stand-alone certification for someone wishing to work as a phlebotomist in hospitals, labs, doctors’ offices, blood donation centers, and so on. This program will teach you the technical and procedural aspects of phlebotomy including the collection of blood specimens and venipuncture using a combination of theory and hands-on instruction. You’ll also learn fundamental concepts including procedures, safety, infection control, legal issues in healthcare, introductory level human anatomy and physiology and more!

This course is the clinical section required to complete the Phlebotomy Technician Program. PHLB 0600 PCT Phlebotomy Skills (0 Credits)
The art and science of phlebotomy is an important part of the role of many patient care technicians. This 30-hour introductory course includes skin-puncture techniques, special collection procedures, legal ethical issues, safety concerns, infection control, and quality assurance.
Teaching methods include lecture and hands-on practice in a simulated lab setting, but do not include a clinical rotation. This course does not prepare you to be a phlebotomy technician.
PHLB 0601 Phlebotomy Technician Refresher (0 Credits)
This course provides students who have completed a Phlebotomy Technician Program with up-to-date Phlebotomy procedures and prepare students to sit for the NHA Exam.
