CT State’s School of Liberal Arts and Education provides students with exposure to classic liberal arts disciplines in arts and humanities, social and behavioral sciences, as well as offering a range of curriculum offerings to prepare students interested in pursuing a career in education or teaching.
For students interested in arts and humanities, our curriculum led by expert faculty in field offers opportunities to explore the creative arts and foster critical thinking and expression by offering a rich array of coursework and programs in Art and Design, Communication, Digital and Media Productions, English, Language and Culture, and the Performing Arts. Our students gain the tools to cultivate an understanding of different cultures and cultural differences - historically, geographically, and artistically. Arts and humanities students are distinct in their ability to bring innovative solutions to novel challenges.
Students interested in the social and behavioral sciences have the opportunity to foster their study and research more deeply on the cultural, historical, social, political, and psychological forces that shape our lives. Courses and programming include a focus on anthropology, communications, history, humanities, languages, political science, psychology, sociology and more.
For students who wish to pursue a career in education or teaching, the college offers an array of certificates and degrees designed to prepare students to teach in an early childhood education environment or to prepare for a pathway to teaching in elementary or secondary school settings.
