MUS 1100 - Fundamentals of Music


Credits: 3

This course offers an introduction to the most rudimentary and ubiquitous aspects of the academic discipline of music. Students will develop skills that will allow them to read, write, and perform music. Thus, while not required for or limited to music majors, this class will prepare students for subsequent study in music theory and ear training. Topics include: notation, pitch, rhythm, meter, scale construction, key signatures, triads, inversions, and basic sight-singing.
