SUR 1109 - Microbiology for Surgical Technologists
Credits: 2
Gives a broad overview of general microbiology and clinical microbiology most necessary for the surgical technologist to understand. Emphasizes the importance of sterile technique and infection control in the operating room. While covering basic information such as bacterial staining, microscopy, how bacteria can be cultured and identified in the laboratory, the most significant human pathogens and how the immune system responds to them.
Prerequisite: CSA 1110 , ENG 1010 , (HIMT 1000 , BOT 1800 or MDAS 1025 ), MATH 1001 or higher all with a grade of C or higher; BIO 1111 with a grade of C+ or higher
Corequisite: SUR 1090 and ENG 1080
