SUR 1110 - Operating Room Techniques

Credits: 4

A theoretical introduction to the roles and responsibilities of the surgical technologist, the health care team, and the surgical environment. Teaches the basic principles of aseptic technique, fundamentals of surgical technology, and patient care concepts. Incorporates surgical scrub, gowning, gloving, case preparation, patient care and safety. Prepares students for entry level into the surgical environment and basic surgical procedures.

Prerequisite: CSA 1110 , ENG 1010 , (HIMT 1000 , MDAS 1025 , or BOT 1800 ), MATH 1001 or higher all with a grade of C or higher; BIO 1100   with a grade of C+ or higher
Corequisite: SUR 1090  and ENG 1080
