HIST 2014 - Women in Early American History Credits: 3
This course examines major themes in the lives of women and their experiences related to the development of North America from pre-European settlements, through the American Civil War and Reconstruction. Topics include women’s roles in the New World, women in Colonial America, mothers and daughters, revolutions, Republican Motherhood, and True Womanhood, women’s relationships to patriarchy and enslaving people, Antebellum reform movements, westward expansion, and Redefining Womanhood. The course concludes with women and the American Civil War and Reconstruction.
Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENG 1010 or ENG 0910 Elective Code(s): HUM, LART Previous HIS* 214
