MUSX 1301 - Group Piano I Credits: 1
This course provides beginning piano instruction and application/reinforcement of music theory; on the keyboard: read music in treble and bass clef, and play: intervals up to an octave; chords of all qualities (major, minor, augmented, diminished: blocked and broken); 8-notes scales in major and minor of Group 1 (up to 2 octaves in parallel & one in contrary motion); chord progressions; and repertoire of varied eras. Students will also work on: transposition, melodic harmonization, improvisation, and harmonic analysis.
Corequisite: While not required, it is recommended to take MUSX 1301 Group Piano I concurrently with MUSX 1101 - Music Theory I .
