Technology Studies: Technology and Engineering Education, AS (TEED-AS-COT)

This 2024-25 Curriculum Guide is intended as a reference for Fall 2024 registration. The complete 2024-25 Academic Catalog will be finalized on July 1, 2024.


As part of the Connecticut College of Technology (COT), the Technology Studies A.S. degree provides the knowledge and skills within specific high-demand technology fields. The program consists of lecture and lab course work in engineering, technology, industrial technology, mathematics, sciences, and foundational requirements that provide a solid comprehensive background for continuation in a four-year technology degree program or entry into the workforce. Upon completion of a Technology Studies A.S. degree, students can transfer to Central CT State University or the University of Hartford to complete designated B.S. degrees.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Apply mathematical, scientific and technological principles and concepts to identify and formulate solutions to technical problems.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrate the ability to function on teams.
  • Recognize the need to engage in life-long learning.

The Technology Studies: Technology and Engineering Education program can lead to certification to teach technology education in grades K-12 in the public schools of Connecticut. In addition to careers in public school teaching, technology education graduates may also function as instructors or supervisors in private schools, industry, government, or rehabilitation programs. Coursework prepares students for entry into the Technology Education program at CCSU.
In addition to meeting the Technical Studies outcomes students in this option will:

  • Possess and be able to teach and assess basic knowledge and skills in technology and engineering education.
  • Understand and be able to foster and assess student acquisition of age-appropriate technology and engineering concepts, as outlined.
  • Demonstrate an ability to plan and maintain a safe, flexible, and age-appropriate learning environment which promotes inquiry and problem-based learning; and demonstrate the skills and knowledge to operate equipment and handle materials safely.
  • Demonstrate an ability to critically assess technological and educational trends, and when appropriate, promote change in technology and engineering education.
