CT State Community College Catalog 2023-2024
- New students enrolling for the first time in Fall 2023 will begin as students of Connecticut State Community College under this catalog.
- Continuing students from one of the 12 community colleges will be transitioned into a CT State program in this catalog as of the start of the Fall 2023 term.

The Computer Networking certificate is designed for those individuals who desire an understanding of networks and their use in the workplace. The course of study will provide the student with knowledge of local area network design, network management, installation, servicing and support. The Computer Networking certificate may be applied to the Computer Information Systems Associate degree
Learning Outcomes:
- Provide the student with the personal computer skills necessary to effectively function in today’s workplace.
- Offer a “hands-on” learning experience in the personal computer networking software most commonly used in business and industry.
- Provide the opportunity for a more advanced technical understanding of personal computer local area networks, their design, installation and management.
- Provide entry-level opportunities to individuals seeking positions requiring computer networking skills.
- Upgrade the skills of individuals currently employed.
This degree will begin to prepare students for common certification exams such as:
- CCNA (CISCO Certified Network Associate) exam.
- CompTia Network+
- CompTIA Security+

Required Courses*
CSC 1201 Introduction to Programming and CSC 2213 Object Oriented Programming are not allowed in this program. Students are encouraged to take CSC 1211 - Java I or other programming language.
