This new program is pending final approval by the CSCU Board of Regents.

This certificate program will provide graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency roles in community health as well as the role they play in protecting public health. Graduates will gain the skills and knowledge to assume roles in environmental public health that include, but not limited to, state and local health departments, regulatory agencies and nonprofit organizations. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the relationship between environmental factors and determinants of health, and public health.​ 

  1. Explain common environmental hazards, their potential as health risk factors, and how they impact individuals and communities. 

  1. ​Describe the roles of government agencies and regulatory policies in mitigating environmental health risks. 

  1. ​​List and describe strategies for preventing and controlling environmental health hazards. 

  1. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing environmental health challenges.​
