This associate degree program will provide graduates with a broad foundation in the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency roles within the field of public health, including environmental health, community health, health education, and health policy. Graduates will be prepared to either transfer seamlessly into bachelor’s degree programs in public health or enter the workforce in entry-level roles. Career opportunities may include positions in state and local health departments, community-based organizations, nonprofit agencies, and other health-related settings that protect and promote health and well-being. 

Learning Outcomes

1. ​​​Explain core concepts and functions of public health including history, systems, essential services, and the role of public health in society.​ 

2. ​​Analyze the impact of social, behavioral, and environmental determinants of health on individuals and populations.​ 

3. ​​Evaluate health policies and systems at local, state, and federal levels, including their influence on health outcomes and the environment.​ 

4. ​Demonstrate skills in community engagement, outreach, and advocacy to address health disparities and promote wellness. 

5. ​Plan and evaluate public health programs using measurable objectives and appropriate evaluation methods. ​
