Equity Statement
Equity is the removal and reduction of barriers that negatively impact student success within structures, policies and practices and ensuring that students receive targeted resources and supports to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. Equity is achieved by identifying and intentionally addressing structural racism, systemic poverty, and other forms of marginalization, upholding the expectation that administrators, faculty, and staff act as anti-racist institutional change agents. CT State Facts
Academic year 2024-25 is the second in CT State’s history. In our first year with a community that included approximately 64,000 students, we reached the following milestones.
Approximately 50,000 students enrolled in credit-bearing courses. Of these:
- 70% attended part-time
- 25% attended all classes remotely; an additional 40% enrolled in at least one online class
- 6% were English language learners
- 60% identified as women
- 57% were students of color
- 30% were age 25 or older (median age was 21)
- 8% were enrolled in duel enrollment programs
Our first commencement ceremonies awarded:
- 5,844 degrees or credit certificates to 5,269 graduates
- 2,516 non-credit workforce credentials to 2,334 graduates
Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System
Connecticut State Community College is one of six public colleges and universities with the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) system. The system includes the four state universities: Central, Eastern, Southern and Western Connecticut State Universities, Charter Oak State College, and CT State. The CSCU system operates under the oversight of the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education.
