MUS 1010 - Rock and Roll History and Appreciation Credits: 3
A survey of the evolution of rock music and the origins, characteristics, stylistic development, and cultural/social perspectives. The course will present the major historical developments of Rock and Roll, as well as related ‘popular’ musical styles. From its roots in rhythm and blues, to the use of sampling, the class will explore the development of style, instrumentation, playing techniques, and the cultural conditions that helped to define the major trends in Rock and Roll.
