ENG 2127 - Creative Writing: Mixed Genre Credits: 3
This course is a continuation of work on creative writing skills begun in ENG 2100 Creative Writing. The focus in this course is exclusively on the techniques of writing mixed genre work. In the mixed or multi-genre writing, authors aren’t writing within a particular genre, such as poetry or fiction or non-fiction, but instead using elements of multiple genres to tell their stories. Authors might include photographs, drawings, electronic elements, or music, as well as the various literary genres to tell their story or generate their experience. This course would introduce students to the exciting possibilities inherent in writing this way. Students will work on their own pieces while studying examples of the form and discussing such elements of craft as character and conflict, dialogue, point of view, and the relationship between the different genres included in the work.
Prerequisite: ENG 2100 - Creative Writing or permission of the instructor Previous ENG* 201
